CV Therapeutics Europe Limited, the United Kingdom-based European subsidiary of CV Therapeutics, Inc., was established to support current and potential activities in Europe. The European operation combines the cardiology and scientific expertise of CV Therapeutics, with the local and regional understanding necessary to work with healthcare providers across Europe.

Since its incorporation, CV Therapeutics Europe Limited has developed close and mutually supportive links with the cardiology community in Europe by establishing a scientific faculty, which includes many of the continent's most eminent cardiologists.

Cardiovascular Disease in Europe
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the major cause of mortality and morbidity in Europe, resulting in approximately 4 million deaths each year and accounting for 49% of all deaths in the continent. CVD is responsible for considerable suffering and is a major economic burden in all European countries.

Ranexa Now Approved in Europe
Ranexa^® (ranolazine prolonged-release tablets) has been granted a marketing authorization by the European Medicines Agency (EMEA).  It is indicated as add-on therapy for the symptomatic treatment of patients with stable angina pectoris who are inadequately controlled or intolerant to first-line antianginal therapies (such as beta-blockers and/or calcium antagonists). 

The Menarini Group is responsible for marketing and selling Ranexa in Europe and plans to launch the product in Germany and the UK in the first quarter of 2009. Launch is expected in the other territories following formal pricing and reimbursement authorizations in those countries.
