CV Therapeutics At A Glance

Vision

CV Therapeutics was founded with a single focus—to discover, develop, and commercialize better drugs to help the millions of patients who have cardiovascular disease.

Company Overview

Founded more than 15 years ago by chairman and CEO Louis Lange, MD, PhD, CV Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company focused on applying molecular cardiology to discovering, developing, and commercializing novel, small molecule drugs for the treatment of cardiovascular disease—the number one cause of death in the United States. The cardiologists, clinicians, and researchers at CV Therapeutics work together to link the scientific discovery process with the real-world needs of patients with heart disease.

The company focuses on the biomedical discipline of molecular cardiology which applies advances in molecular biology and genetics to identify and delineate mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and new targets for drug discovery. By using novel, small molecules against these disease targets, CV Therapeutics is building a product portfolio that is intended to improve efficacy and/or reduce side effects compared with existing agents, creating new therapies for the treatment of patients suffering from cardiovascular conditions.

Product Portfolio

Ranexa®: Ranexa (ranolazine) extended-release tablets is indicated for the treatment of chronic angina. Ranexa may be used with beta-blockers, nitrates, calcium channel blockers, anti-platelet therapy, lipid-lowering therapy, ACE inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers. Full US prescribing information can be found at www.Ranexa.com.

Lexiscan®: Lexiscan (regadenoson) injection is the first A2A adenosine receptor agonist approved by the FDA for use as a pharmacologic stress agent in radionuclide MPI studies. The product has been designed to target the A2A adenosine receptor, which is the adenosine receptor subtype responsible for coronary vasodilation. Lexiscan(regadenoson) injection is administered as a rapid intravenous bolus injection, with no dose adjustment required for body weight. CV Therapeutics owns the marketing rights for Lexiscan outside of North America and currently expects to submit a marketing authorization application for the product to the European Medicines Agency by the end of 2008.

CV Therapeutics currently has multiple clinical and preclinical drug development programs and candidates. Learn more about our development pipeline.
